Quality points

 

The following list indicates the quality points to look for when purchasing pigeon.

 

 

                         Pigeon should be plump

                         The flesh should be red/mauve

                         Claws should be pinkish

 

 

 

 

 

Tame pigeons are smaller than the wild wood pigeons - Pigeons found in and around towns and cities should NOT be considered for eating!

 

  Young birds are specifically bred for the table and are known as squabs.
